Research profile

Václav Nežerka is an Associate Professor at the Czech Technical University in Prague and, since 2023, has also conducted research at the University of Chemistry and Technology in Prague. His research interests span materials science, computer vision, image analysis, machine learning, concrete recycling, experimental mechanics, and micromechanical modeling. He has played leading roles in major projects, including a Horizon Europe initiative on sustainable construction and demolition waste management, a project on microbiologically induced calcite precipitation (MICP) for carbon-negative building materials, and the use of machine learning in materials science and expert systems.

Academic profile

Václav earned his Ph.D. in Physical and Materials Engineering from the Czech Technical University in Prague (CTU) in March 2016, after obtaining a Bc. (2010) and MSc. (2012) in Civil Engineering from the same institution. He is currently an Associate Professor at the Department of Physics, Faculty of Civil Engineering, CTU. He has broadened his expertise through research stays at the Technical University of Denmark (2014, digital image correlation) and the University of Ljubljana in Slovenia (2010, timber–concrete composites).
